Mapkin - GPS Navigation, Maps & Traffic App Reviews

Ive been using this app for a few months and overall I really like it. Sometimes the instructions can get a bit funky or arent the correct level of detail. The Mapkin team is really responsive about making updates for the tips though. I havent quite figured out how to get the send tips while driving thing to work smoothly but since I can still add at the end its not that big of a deal. I also really like that its very personable which does make it fun to use. I did drop my rating down to a 4 because of the sending tips and because I dont totally trust it so when Im in an area Im really uncomfortable driving in I do still switch over to a bigger name app. :-/ but generally I use Mapkin more than not.

I love this app. It is the best navigation app. Ive had the pleasure to use. The tips are extremely helpful. But, a small but, the voice is a little "grating" and speaks too fast. Pse., change the voice or provide options.

I have had both TomTom and Garmin this app is by far this best ever. All maps are current. You dont have to shell out money to update. This is by far the most accurate app I have tested! Great Job MapKim!

I love this app! It is so interactive and a fun app to use! It gives alerts in ample time and makes one feel like a friend is in the car with you!

Theres no other GPS driving app you need mapkin does it all. It keeps you update and with the user comment section it lets the user post actual feedback about road conditions and other problems out there other apps cant. Great app!!

Love love love. One minor thing cant see final turns or what side of street it is on because location icon too large hides it

My first time using Mapkin so Im still learning. So far I like this app. Plenty of warning before a turn, etc. Havent gotten into much yet.

Im a Realtor and this one is about as good as I have seen for mapping and audio directions. I count on it daily, no problems so far. It makes my job much easier...and much more efficient. Thanks

I recently traveled out of state and Mapkin provided excellent instructions on my drives. I especially liked how it had current area updates in some places (not all, but thats a user contribution thing). The app gives you repeated instructions with rapid changes (i.e. Stay in the left lane to and fork to the left at 435 West; or reduced speed ahead because of roadwork). It also checks in with you during long lapses of silence (i.e. I needed to 26 miles to my exit and Mapkin says "hello, Im just checking in, you have 8 miles to go until your exit on 23rd street"). The more users pride info regarding roadwork, etc. the better the app will be. The one area for improvement had to do when we were looking for a Target store that wed visited the day before. For some reason it didnt show that store in the list that populated when I searched for Target stores nearest to my location. It turned out the app left out Super Target store locations because I didnt specify "Super Target." Not a deal breaker, just good to note when searching for a place. Also it would be so nice if, when listing Starbucks locations, the app would state "Starbucks inside Marriott hotel" versus a standalone. But again I thinks thats something can be remedied over time with users input. I had a young adult with me and she noted how impressed she was with Mapkin....so much so that she downloaded it onto her phone which has precious little space left, if that counts for anything.

The gps on my iPhone is constantly getting me lost. changing the address etc. Once I found this app I stopped using anything else. Best gps by far and so cool you can customize it!

This is the only GPS I dont have to yell at :). Its really friendly and I love the the new directions list feature!!

Simple. Easy to use. Great directions. Exactly what I need from a GPS app.

I love how this app tells me to "take a right at the blue house" in Boston instead of "take a right at Anderson st."! Its great especially when I dont know where Im going and its helped me keep my eyes on the road. Super friendly too, for some reason it makes it less stressful while driving, its like you have a super confident, nonchalant friend who knows where youre going talking to you casually. UPDATE: NEW LIST VIEW AND AVOID GOLLS IS GREAT!!!!! BEST NAVIGATION GPS APP EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great alternative to MotionX and Waze

Got the hint!!! "Favorites!!" Its about time. Once this app gets updated with this I will be leaving Google maps. Yaaaaayyy!!!!!

I used to use Mapkin almost everyday due to my profession.. After I moved down to SoCal, I had to stop using Mapkin because there was no avoid toll function. Yet, Mapkin development team was very responsive to my needs (Im sure many of yours as well) and soon release the new version with the function. Im happy to join the Mapkin crew again!!!

Great app - better than Google or Apple for me. Also excellent response from developer when asking questions. Try it!!

Since the beginning, when I started using Mapkin, each and every update gets better creating more and more options based on the users preference for use. Love the new update with additions to avoid ferries, tolls, and highways if needed.

Thank you so much for addressing my suggestion and adding the ability to preview the directions before you hit the road!!! I now have everything I need on Mapkin...plus it is more enjoyable than other navigation apps. Thank you!!!
